የኢትዮጵያ ቡናና ሻይ ባለስልጣን በቡና ዘርፍ የህፃናት ጉልበት ብዝበዛን ለመከላከል የሚያስችል ስልጠና ሰጠ
ጅማ፣ ኢትዮጵያ – የኢትዮጵያን የቡና ኢንዱስትሪ ከዓለም አቀፍ ዘላቂነት መስፈርቶች ጋር ለማጣጣም በሚደረገው ጥረት፣ የኢትዮጵያ ቡናና ሻይ ባለስልጣን ዛሬ መጋቢት 27 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም (March 06, 2026) በጅማ ኃይሌ ሪዞርት ከፍተኛ የስልጠና አውደ ጥናት አካሂዷል።
ለቡና አምራቾች እና ለኢንዱስትሪ ባለቤቶች ተብሎ የተዘጋጀው ይህ ስልጠና በዘርፉ ስለሚታየው የህፃናት ጉልበት ብዝበዛ ያለውን ግንዛቤ ለማጠናከር እና የኢትዮጵያ ቡና በዓለም አቀፍ መድረክ ጥራቱን የጠበቀና ከሥነ-ምግባር ጥሰት የጸዳ መሆኑን ለማረጋገጥ ያለመ ነው።
ስልጠናው በቡናና ሻይ ባለስልጣን፣ በሥራና ክህሎት ሚኒስቴር እና በዓለም አቀፍ የሥራ ድርጅት (ILO) ባለሙያዎች ትብብር የቀረበ ነው። ይህ የተቋማት ቅንጅት የጉዳዩን አሳሳቢነት የሚያሳይ ሲሆን፣ ባለድርሻ አካላት ስለ ህፃናት ጉልበት ብዝበዛ ስጋቶች፣ ስለ ህጋዊ ማዕቀፎች እና በዘመናዊ ኢኮኖሚ ውስጥ ስራን ለመምራት ስለሚያስፈልጉ የሥነ-ምግባር መስፈርቶች ጥልቅ ግንዛቤ እንዲጨብጡ ለማድረግ የታለመ ነው።
የዚህ ወቅታዊ ስልጠና ዋናው መንስኤ በዓለም አቀፍ ደረጃ እየተለወጠ የመጣው የቁጥጥር ሥርዓት፣ በተለይም የአውሮፓ ህብረት የደን ጭፍጨፋ ደንብ (EUDR) ነው። በእነዚህ አዳዲስ መመሪያዎች መሠረት፣ የህፃናት ጉልበት ብዝበዛን መፍታት ከሞራል ግዴታነት ባለፈ ወደ ዓለም አቀፍ ገበያ ለመግባት እንደ አስገዳጅ መስፈርት ተቀምጧል። ኢትዮጵያ በይፋ ዓለም አቀፍ የጥቃት መከላከያ መስፈርቶችን የተቀበለች ሲሆን፣ የቡናና ሻይ ባለስልጣንም ከዩኒዶ (UNIDO) ጋር በመተባበር የሀገር ውስጥ አምራቾች እነዚህን ጥብቅ መስፈርቶች እንዲያሟሉ በትጋት እየሰራ መሆኑ በስልጠናው ላይ ተገልጿል።
የጅማ ዞን የንግድ ቢሮ ም/ኃላፊ እና የቡና ክትትል ዘርፍ ኃላፊ አቶ ነሲብ ያሲን የእንኳን ደህና መጣችሁ መልዕክት ካስተላለፉ በኋላ፣ ቡና ሀገራዊ ፋይዳ ያለው በመሆኑ እንደማንኛውም ንግድ ሳይሆን በከፍተኛ ጥንቃቄ ሊሰራበት እንደሚገባ አሳስበዋል። ትልቁ የሥራ ዕድል የሚፈጠረው ከቡና ልማት እስከ ግብይቱ ባለው ሂደት ውስጥ መሆኑን ገልጸው፣ እነዚህ የሥራ ዕድሎች ሲፈጠሩ በተለይም የህፃናትን ጉልበት አለመጠቀም ላይ ትኩረት ሊሰጠው እንደሚገባ አቶ ያሲን አጽንኦት ሰጥተዋል። ሰልጣኞችም ትምህርቱን በአግባቡ ተከታትለው በተግባር ሊያውሉት እንደሚገባ ገልጸዋል።
የባለስልጣኑ ዋና ዳይሬክተር አቶ ሰፊሳ አባቡ ለተሳታፊዎቹ ባስተላለፉት ቁልፍ መልዕክት፣ የህፃናት ጉልበት ብዝበዛ ከቁጥጥር ባለፈ የረጅም ጊዜ የባህሪ ለውጥ ማምጣትን ታሳቢ ያደረገ መሆኑን ገልጸዋል። የህፃናት ጉልበት ብዝበዛ ግንዛቤን በተቋማዊ ፖሊሲዎች እና በዕለት ተዕለት የሥራ መመሪያዎች ውስጥ በማካተት፣ የጋራ ኃላፊነት ባህልን ለመገንባት ባለስልጣኑ እየሰራ መሆኑን ጠቁመዋል። በዚህ ንቁ አካሄድ ኢትዮጵያ ህፃናቷን ከመጠበቅ ባለፈ የቡና ኢንዱስትሪዋን ማህበራዊ፣ ኢኮኖሚያዊ እና የቡና ኢንደስትሪው ለቀጣይ ትውልድ የተከበረ እንዲሆን እያደረገች መሆኑን አስረድተዋል።
አቶ ሰፊሳ አክለውም ስልጠናው ከህግ ግንዛቤ ባለፈ አተገባበሩ ላይ ትኩረትና ክትትል ከተደረገበት የቡና ተዋናዮች የበለጠ ተጠቃሚ ይሆናሉ ብለዋል። ዘርፉ ከህፃናት ጉልበት ብዝበዛ ነፃ እንዲሆን ሰልጣኞች ከሌሎች ባለድርሻ አካላት ጋር በመሆን የሚጫወቱት ሚና ከፍተኛ መሆኑን ገልፀው፣ ለስልጠናው ድጋፍ ያደረገውን ዩኒዶን (UNIDO) በማመስገን እና ተሳታፊዎችን በማመስገን መድረኩን በይፋ ከፍተዋል።
ECTA Launches Strategic Training to Combat Child Labour in the Coffee Sector
JIMMA, ETHIOPIA – In a significant move to align Ethiopia’s coffee industry with global sustainability standards, the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA) convened a high-level training workshop today, March 06, 2026, at the Haile Resort Hotel,Jimma.
The program, specifically designed for coffee sector growers and industry owners, aims to fortify the industry’s knowledge base regarding child labour and ensure that Ethiopian coffee remains a symbol of both quality and ethical responsibility on the global stage.
The training was powered by a collaborative front of experts from the ECTA, the Ministry of Labour and Skills (MOLS), and the International Labour Organization (ILO). This inter-agency partnership underscores the gravity of the mission: to equip stakeholders with a profound understanding of child labour risks, legal frameworks, and the ethical standards required to operate in a modern economy.
A primary driver for this timely intervention is the evolving international regulatory landscape, specifically the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Under these new guidelines, addressing child labour exploitation is no longer just a moral imperative but a mandatory criterion for market access. The training highlighted that Ethiopia has formally committed to international anti-abuse standards, and the ECTA in colaboration with UNIDO is working tirelessly to ensure that all local producers can meet these rigorous demands.
After delivering a welcoming message, Mr. Nesib Yasin, Deputy Head of the Jimma Zone Trade Office and Head of the Coffee Monitoring Sector, emphasized that coffee is a matter of national importance. Unlike any other trade, he noted, working in this sector requires the utmost care and caution.
He highlighted that the greatest potential for job creation lies within the entire process—from coffee development to marketing. Therefore, Mr. Yasin stressed that as these opportunities are created, particular attention must be paid to the issue of child labor. He concluded by stating that participants should follow the training properly and translate the lessons into practical action.
In a keynote message forwarded to the participants, Ato Sefisa Ababu, General Director of ECTA, emphasized that these efforts are about more than just regulation—they are about long-term behavioral change. By embedding child labour awareness into organizational policies and daily operational guidelines, the Authority seeks to foster a culture of collective responsibility. Through this proactive approach, Ethiopia is not only protecting its children but also securing the social, economic, and reputational future of its coffee industry for generations to come.
Mr. Sefisa stated that beyond legal awareness, if focus and follow-up are given to the implementation of the training, coffee industry actors will benefit further.
He added that in order to keep the sector free from child labor, your role as trainees—working alongside other stakeholders—is crucial. Finally, On behalf of the Authority, he thanked the training participants and trainers for their attendance and officially opened the forum by expressing his gratitude to UNIDO for supporting this training.
